What this usually means at a sale
- An expired permit means the work was permitted but never inspected and closed out. A buyer's lender or insurer may ask for it to be closed, which usually means a new permit or a renewal and the inspections that were skipped.
- An open expired-permit case is the county's own flag on the property. It stays with the parcel until it is resolved, whoever owns it.
- A re-roof permit with no final is worth a specific question: insurers in Florida often ask for proof of roof age, and an unfinaled permit does not provide it.
